Brunei’s Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIFBM) will be working with Malaysia’s International Centre of Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) to provide more trainings and forums.
CIFBM yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with INCEIF to officiate this cooperation, as both institutions look to improve and promote Islamic finance and infrastructure in the region.
INCEIF is an institution set up by Bank Negara Malaysia in 2005, aimed at nurturing talents and experts in the Islamic financial services industry.
As a university, INCEIF offers postgraduate studies in Islamic finance. Today, there are 1,561 INCEIF alumni from over 70 countries around the world.
Some are already making meaningful contributions to the advancement of Islamic finance at all levels be it product development, policy framework and implementation; regulation and enforcement; and innovation.
Signing on behalf of CIBFM was its deputy CEO Hjh Sufinah Hj Sahat, while INCEIF was represented by its President and CEO, Profesor Dato’ Dr Azmi.
Present to witness the signing was Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) and Chairman of CIBFM Yusof Haji Abdul Rahman.
Also present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs and deputy chairman of AMBD.
