Centre For Islamic Banking, Finance And Management (CIBFM) and SMR HR Group Malaysia, with the support of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), organised the “HR Symposium: Back to Basics” on Monday, 8 April 2019 corresponding to 2 Sya’aban 1440, at the Rizqun International Hotel, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The event was attended by members of government agencies and private sectors such as Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP), Radio Television Brunei (RTB), BIBD, Baiduri Bank, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB) and its subsidiaries, among others.
The objective of the symposium is to strengthen human capital development in the country by gathering HR practitioners and leaders in both the government and private sectors in order to develop and enhance their own organisation’s HR strategies by sharing their different methods, solutions and framework employed.
The event carried a lineup of 14 speakers which comprised of both local and international experts. Among them were Mr Azman Hisham Che Doi, Chief Executive Officer, Razak School of Government, Malaysia; Dato’ Hajjah Aishah Mohammad, Chief Executive Officer of Auxiliary Police Unit, Maju Holdings Group, Malaysia; YM Dayang Siti Erana binti Abas, Head HR Policy, Remuneration and Systems, BSP Co Sdn Bhd, Brunei Darussalam; and YM Haji Shahrildin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Utama Dato Paduka Haji Jaya, Managing Director, Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam.
The event featured keynote presentations and panel discussions on various topics, including “HR: The link to Organisational Performance”, “Challenges and Future Trends in Learning and Development”, “Building Performance Culture in a Challenging Era”, and “Performance Management Systems”.
Following the symposium, CIBFM is also conducting an Accredited Competency Professional (ACP) Masterclass from 9 April 2019 to 11 April 2019. The ACP Masterclass will provide the participants with the relevant skills and knowledge needed to develop customised competency dictionaries for best-fit purposes in their organisations. Successful participants of the Masterclass will be given an ACP certification that is recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management, United Kingdom.
