SIDC-CIBFM DIRECTORS’ FORUM

Centre For Islamic Banking, Finance And Management (CIBFM) and Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) Malaysia with the support of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam organised a “Directors’ Forum” on Wednesday, 21 August 2019 corresponding to 20 Zulhijjah 1440, at the Radisson Hotel, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The first of its kind in Brunei Darussalam and themed “Guiding Companies Through New Challenges”, the Directors’ Forum gathered participants from members of boards, corporate secretaries, CEOs, and other C-Suite executives to listen to local and international speakers with vast experience, to share their knowledge, best practices and strategy for success.

Speaking during the forum were Associate Professor Mak Yuen Teen of National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, Singapore; Mr Javed Ahmad, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Darussalam Enterprise, Brunei Darussalam; Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Azmi Mohd Ali, Senior Partner, Azmi & Associates, Malaysia and Mr Philip Forrest, Member of the Governing Council of Singapore Institute of Directors, among others.

Some of the topics that were discussed during the forum were “Board’s Roles and Responsibilities” Moving Forward”, “Blindspots in Decision Making”, “Navigating New Age Risks” and “Financial Matters: Heeding Red Flags and Avoiding Common Pitfalls”.

The Directors’ Forum is the first collaboration between CIBFM and SIDC to develop and provide events and learning programmes for capital market learning and development solutions in the sultanate. Several collaborations and programmes on capital market are currently under development and will be announced in the near future.
