On course for success

THE 2ND MUZAKARAH ILMUAN KEWANGAN ISLAM (MIKI) 2020

Centre For Islamic Banking, Finance And Management (CIBFM), with the support of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), recently organised the Muzakarah Ilmuan Kewangan Islam (MIKI) with the theme “COVID-19: Implications for Brunei’s Islamic Finance Industry”.

The forum, held virtually, received over 100 registrations locally as well as internationally. Among those who participated were representatives from AMBD, local and international financial institutions, as well as lecturers and students from various higher education institutions.

The forum was moderated by YM Dr Amni Suhailah binti Abarahan, Assistant Lecturer, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) with a line-up of speakers featuring Yang Berbahagia Professor Dato Dr Mohd Azmi bin Omar, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF); YM Dk Sri Joedianna binti Pg Haji Mohammed, Assistant Executive Director, AMBD; YM Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohd Jaafar, Chief Marketing Officer, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD); and YM Haji Shamsul bin Haji Muhamad, General Manager, Insurans Islam TAIB Family Takaful Sdn Bhd.

The virtual forum featured an in-depth discussion on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on financial institutions’ business plans and strategies, the importance of leadership during a crisis, the advancement in financial technology which has been brought about and, subsequently, changes in how we work.

MIKI is one of CIBFM’s platform for professional open discussions on issues and trends in the Islamic finance industry in Brunei Darussalam, gathering Islamic bankers, Shariah advisors, academicians, regulators and other experts to share ideas, expertise and knowledge to their peers for the development of the industry.
