BILIF organises HR Retreat for HR Professionals

Brunei Institute of Leadership & Islamic Finance (BILIF) organised their annual HR Retreat gathering for HR professionals from 30 different private and government organisations at the Mutiara Ballroom, Radisson Hotel Brunei on Wednesday, 27 Syawal 1442H corresponding to 9 June 2021M.

The objective of the retreat is to further enhance relationships between BILIF and its stakeholders and clients while discussing current issues and strategies for human capital development for the participants’ respective organisations. The retreat was attended by over 40 human resource professionals.

Attending as the guest of honour during the event was Yang Mulia Hajah Sufinah binti Haji Sahat, Acting Assistant Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) as the Acting CEO of BILIF. In her welcoming remarks, Yang Mulia Hajah Sufinah highlighted the importance of HR leaders and their role as a strategic partner to facilitate the growth and success of talents and leadership throughout the organisation. Additionally, she also emphasised HR’s responsibilities to nurture, upgrade and retain employees’ talents and skills through coaching and training.

The event featured a presentation entitled “The Digital Organisation: What every HR leader needs to know” by Dr Flocy Joseph, Head of Strategic Partnership and Programme Director, Executive Development, Singapore Management University (SMU). The presentation covered several HR strategies and concepts as well as ways an organisation can evaluate and work towards becoming a digital organisation.

The event concluded with an HR Engagement Session led by Karen Ong, an accredited training professional, learning facilitator and coach from Malaysia. The session explored HR strategies, challenges and policies of participating organisations as well as an open discussion on how to improve them.
