BILIF AND IPA HOLD HR SYMPOSIUM 2022

Brunei Institute of Leadership & Islamic Finance (BILIF), in collaboration with the Civil Service Institute (IPA), organised a HR Symposium for Human Resource (HR) professionals on Tuesday, 23 Syawal 1443H corresponding to 24 May 2022M.

The virtual event, carrying the theme “Unleashing Potential, Transforming the Future”, was attended by over 40 HR professionals from relevant government agencies and private organisations.

The event began with a welcoming remark by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Sufinah binti Haji Sahat, Chief Executive Officer, BILIF. In her speech, she highlighted the objectives of the symposium as a platform to explore new approaches and best practices in developing talents to ensure organisations’ readiness in adapting to future changes, technologies and demands. The event was followed by a keynote presentation entitled “Post Pandemic Lessons for Unleashing Potential” by Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dato Dr. R. Palan, Pro Chancellor of University of Cyberjaya (UOC), Malaysia.

The event then proceeded with a special presentation by Dr. Fermin Diez, Faculty in Human Resources, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Derek Tan, HR Leader and Master Trainer, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Amongst the featured topics discussed during the event included “Unleashing Potentials, Transforming the Future: Strategies and Executions”, “Fact or Fallacy: Great EX Leads to Better CX” and “Leveraging on Multigenerational Workforce”.

Local and international speakers participating in the discussions to share their expertise in the field included Yang Mulia Dr Awang Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); Yang Mulia Dr Dayang Hajah Siti Haziah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Head of Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat; Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Zainab binti Haji M A Omar, Human Resources Director, Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP); Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nurhuaida Fakhriah binti Haji Damit, Executive Director and Head of Monetary Management; Head of Human Resources, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB); Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Yazdi bin Yahya, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer, Progresif; Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Norazlin bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd. Kassim, Senior Training Officer, IPA; and Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohamad Saiful Hazmy bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Senior Training Officer, IPA; Ms. Sugunah Verumandy, HR Director, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Malaysia; Ms. Nadiah Tan, Chief Human Resource Officer, SP Setia, Malaysia; Ms. Karen Ong, Independent Trainer and Coach; and Mr. Tham Chien Ping, Regional HR Leader and Consultant, SHRM.

The event concluded with a closing remark by Yang Mulia Dayang Dr Hajah Noor Maya Binti Haji Md Salleh, Director of IPA.
