
Brunei Institute of Leadership & Islamic Finance (BILIF) marked its 15th anniversary with a celebration themed “Mastery in Motion”, held at Setia Point, Berakas on Thursday, 30 Rejab 1446H, corresponding to 30 January 2025M. This milestone occasion underscores BILIF’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in human capital development particularly in the areas of Islamic finance and leadership.
Attending as a representative of the guest of honour for the event, was Yang Mulia Hajah Rashidah Binti Haji Sabtu, Managing Director of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) as Chairperson of BILIF Board of Directors on behalf of Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin Bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister Of Finance and Economy (Economy), Ministry Of Finance and Economy and Chairman of BDCB Board of Directors. Also in attendance were members of BDCB and BILIF Boards of Directors, alongside senior officers from BDCB, financial institutions, and government and private agencies.
The event began with welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Haji Afero Eswandy Mohamad, Acting Chief Executive Officer of BILIF, who reflected on the organisation’s journey and shared its vision for the future. He highlighted the introduction of programmes addressing emerging trends, such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data analytics. This was followed by a keynote speech from the Managing Director of BDCB, emphasising BILIF’s transformative role in professional growth and industry innovation.
During the event, BILIF showcased a video celebrating its achievements over the last 15 years, followed by the premiere of its new corporate video. The event also featured a special panel discussion titled “Mastery in Motion, Importance of Continuous Learning and Role of Centre of Excellence” which brought together thought leaders from BDCB, the Ateneo-BAP Institute of Banking, and representatives from Lifelong Learning Centre and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). The panel explored the significance of continuous learning and the critical role played by centres of excellence in driving industry progress.
The event also awarded outstanding organisations for their exceptional support and contributions. The BILIF Esteemed Supporter Award (Stakeholder) was presented to BDCB, while Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam received the BILIF Esteemed Supporter Award (Non-Stakeholder). The BILIF Distinguished Supporter Award was given to Tabung Amanah Pekerja, and UBD was honoured with the BILIF Key Industry-Academia Experience Award. Additionally, tokens of appreciation were presented to trainers and partner organisations in recognition of their collaboration with BILIF and their significant contributions to professional and human capital development.
