Intermediate Microsoft Excel [VILT]

Programme Overview

In the Intermediate Microsoft Excel programme, participants will build upon their understanding of Microsoft Excel 2016. They will learn how to adjust the way cells are displayed in Excel for maximum efficiency and sort & filter lists of data based on desired criteria.

During the programme, participants will also learn important Excel functions which allows a higher-level view such as – goal seeking from an existing dataset and the use of Charts and Pivot Tables to display and extract further information. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and polish new skills in Lookup, Logical, Financial and Database functions.

By the end of the Intermediate Microsoft Excel training course, participants will be able to use Microsoft Excel’s in-built features for more efficient data collection, better data management and basic data analysis.

Programme Outline

Freezing Panes and View Options – learn how to use Excel’s in-built functions to manage spreadsheets with many rows and/or columns
Sorting Data – learn the different ways Excel allows you to sort data including by custom-order and at multiple levels.
Filtering Data – find data that match the criteria you set to reveal patterns in your data.
Subtotals – a quick way to summarize your data using a subset of Excel functions.
Relative and Absolute Cell References – mastering relative and absolute cell references are the basis for creating powerful Excel formulas in your spreadsheet.
Lookup functions – learn to use VLOOKUP() and HLOOKUP() to locate data from a cell range.
Logical Functions – learn to use IF(), OR() and AND() to create functions that return different results depending on the conditions of your data.
Tables – learn how using Tables gives you more control over the data you collect in Excel including using Calculated Columns, Slicers and Dynamic Data Validation.
Charts – visualize your data using Excel’s powerful charting functions.
Introduction to Pivot Tables – learn to use one of Excel’s most famous and powerful tools to view your data across different dimensions and extract hidden information
Macros – save time by learning how to automate common routine tasks.
Protecting Data – learn the different ways Excel can protect the data in your spreadsheet including allowing only certain members to edit specific parts of your spreadsheet.
Copying Excel data to Microsoft Word – learn the different ways you can copy data to Microsoft Word and the benefits/drawbacks with each. The principles apply to other Microsoft Office applications.
