Brunei Institute of Leadership & Islamic Finance (BILIF) organised their annual HR Retreat 2023 on Tuesday, 21 Muharram 1445H corresponding to 8 August 2023M. The event was attended by over 40 human resource (HR) professionals from both private and government organisations such as Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Baiduri Bank Group, Standard Chartered Bank, and Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd.
Amongst the objectives of the event are to strengthen relationships between BILIF and its stakeholders and clients, as well as to provide a platform for HR professionals to network and learn from one another. The annual event discusses the latest HR trends and issues as well as remedial strategies in human capital development.
The event commenced with a welcoming remark from Yang Mulia Hajah Sufinah binti Haji Sahat, Chief Executive Officer, BILIF. In her opening speech, she emphasised the crucial role of HR professionals as strategic partners across all departments. She urged them to champion the professional growth and self-development of all employees. Additionally, she highlighted the significance of fostering a culture and developing strategies that encourage employees to proactively pursue their own development. This approach would not only enhance employee retention but also ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the organisations.
During the morning session, the event saw several presentations including “People, Potential, Progress” delivered by Dr Logama Doraisamy, Senior Consultant, Salve Asia and “Learning & Development Programmes 2024” delivered by BILIF representatives. The event then continued in the afternoon with a workshop led by Dr Logama titled “Human Competency and Capacity Development.”
