Modules Programme Description
Introduction to Theories
of Communication
Icebreaking and understanding the purpose of communication: Inform, Instruct and Persuade.
Vocal Variety Theory and guided individual exercise on vocal modulation through Projection, Pace, Pause and Emphasis.
Body Language Theory and individual guided exercise on eye contact,
hand gesture and standing stance.
Rhetoric

Ethos:
Theory and individual guided Exercise on establishing a speaker’s Credibility, Authority and Relevance.

Logos and Pathos:
Theory and individual guided exercise to capture the audience through Logical and Emotional appeals.

Peer Evaluation Theory on practicing peer evaluation in providing and
receiving constructive feedback.
Positive Language Theory and guided individual exercise in using diplomatic and positive language while evaluating fellow participants throughout the class. The participants will learn to showcase possibilities and
willingness in speech while confronting unfavorable
situations.
Audience Analysis Theory and guided group exercise in analysing audience demographic groups such as Age, Education, Economic and Profession.
Visual Communication Theory and best practices in utilising visual aids through PowerPoint application.
Crafting of Presentation Individual crafting and preparation of final presentation.
